Randy Lew started out on the video game scene. He was a top level player and made a name for himself in games such as ‘Marvel vs Capcom 2’. During his university studies at UC Davis in California, he played on the national gaming circuit and it was here that he was first introduced to the idea of playing online poker. Many of the other players on the circuit were finding success with the game and this inspired Randy to set up his own PokerStars account. Randy soon found that the skills and experience he had gained from his gaming days provided him with an edge in online multi-table poker. He started to focus on his poker play and was soon achieving some impressive results.
Randy is now a big name on the online circuit under the User ID ‘nanonoko’. In 2009 he made his mark as one of online poker’s top pro cash game players by exceeding the $1 million mark for his winnings, a huge milestone for online players and an extra special achievement when you consider Randy typically only plays in the mid-stake games. Randy is still a very active player, and has hit Supernova Elite status on PokerStars every year from 2007 through 2010. In 2012 he entered the Guinness book of World Records when he set a new record for the most hands played online in 8 hours finishing in profit. Randy managed to play 23,493 hands in total, posting a tiny profit of $7.65.
He has also managed to take the experience and skills gained on the No Limit Hold’em cash tables to the live tournament game, and picked up his first major title when he won the Main Event at the Macau stop of the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) in November 2011, good for a cash of $483,857 (HKD $3,772,000). Just weeks later Randy was at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) and scored another big cash when he final-tabled the $25,000 High Roller, busting in 8th place for $108,780.
Away from the tables Randy is still a prominent gamer and continues to take part in top level fighting game events. He also continues to learn the game of poker by practising his techniques and strategies and staying active on poker forums. Randy is a member of Team PokerStars Online and you can find him at the tables under the User ID ‘nanonoko’.
