Johnny Lodden was born and raised in Jørpeland in the south of Norway, and played card games from an early age. He started with Uno and by the age of 15 had worked his way up to playing poker for money with his school friends. Before he was 20, Jonny was already an online poker legend playing for the highest stakes, and regularly contesting record-breaking pots.
It’s fair to say that the European Poker Tour has been kind to Johnny. He has a career total of eight cashes and one final table appearance since his debut cash in Season 3. This impressive run began in 2006 at EPT Barcelona when he finished in 14th place for $26,287. In fact Season 3 was a memorable one for Johnny, as he went on to make three further cashes in Dublin, Dortmund and Monte Carlo at the Grand Final. Johnny followed this up in Season 4 with another cash in Dublin before an excellent run in the Grand Final, where he finished in 17th place for $73,263. Season 5 has been profitable too, with a final table in Budapest finishing eighth for $66,577, and a money finish in Prague. That first elusive EPT tournament win is on the horizon, and when it does come, no other player on the circuit will have earned it more.
Johnny has amassed more than $500,000 in live tournament winnings, boosted by cashes in Europe, the Caribbean, Australia and the USA, including an 11th place for $98,756 at the World Series of Poker* Europe Main Event in 2008, and more success is sure to follow for this talented performer. His results are just as impressive online. He became known as a high stakes cash game player very early in his career, but he also has a string of impressive tournament results, in particular $5,000 heads-up Sit & Go’s at PokerStars, making him a dangerous opponent online as well as live.
In his spare time Jonny likes to travel to exotic destinations – the warmer the better, and enjoys hanging out with friends. He’s also a big sports fan, especially soccer. Johnny is hugely proud to be a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name ‘johnnylodden’.
